My Instagram feed is flooded with mouth watering food but I've never written any food post about my travels. If you love food, this post is definitely for you since I've done many research when it comes to eating overseas. Who wants to gain that extra weight when it is not worth your calories. So here's a list of food that i ate in Macau. Get ready. Grab your pen and pencil because you are going to note down whichever you think is worth going! ✔ 1) O Porto Interior RestaurantAddress: 259B Rua do Almirante Sérgio Opening hours : 1200-2330 What to try : African Chicken, Stuffed Crab, Serradua, Clams in White Wine Sauce and Duck Rice Worth : ❤❤♥ Sad to say, we did not try any of the recommendation dishes that i found online. I even wrote it down in my itinerary but we were there during lunch hour and there's a promotion going on. So we thought it was a good deal and ordering will be quick! Despite that, the grilled chicken promotion set caught my eyes and let me tell you this first, it tastes fabulous. Many people always describe a food as crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, i think this would be the most suitable phase to be use on this chicken. I really love it!! On the other hand, the spaghetti heavily rely on pure tomatoes so it's kind of sour to me. If you are here just to savor Portuguese/Macau food with tighter budget, O Porto Interior is for you. Assuming that you can splurge, make a reservation with A Lorcha ( they are recommended in most guide book yet many online reviews mentioned about the drop in standard, which is why i decided to give family business oriented, O Porto Interior a try.) **Both restaurants are featured on lonely planet. Link here 2) Wong Chi Kei 黃枝記粥麵 Address: 17 Largo do Senado, Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro Opening hours : 08:30-23:00 (daily) What to try : Shrimp Roe Wanton Noodles & Crab Congee Worth : ❤❤❤♥ According to a local, the standard of the food here was average. After hearing that, my high hopes for this, vanished. We went in just for a taste since many tourists wrote about it on their blog too but to our surprise, it is good, ok , real good! I love their shrimp dumpling. Even my picky mum love it too! She was so busy analyzing the ingredients in their wanton while we were busy eating all of it. The dumpling definitely add bonus points to their handmade noodle. Not only that, the soup isn't the kind that we expected. Not those with MSG but soup that are brewed for hours. What about their congee? Hmm.. It's kinda ordinary. The congee that we tried at the outer harbour terminal is way better than this in terms of fragrance and tastiness which is why i gave it 3.5/5. I even considered re-eating the dumpling as supper when i saw it at Central but no, i will not eat the same food twice. Why am i forever in dilemma. 3) Yee Shun Niu Nai Gong Si 義順牛奶公司Address: GF, 381 Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro Opening hours : 09:00~23:00 ( Mon-Fri) , 09:00~24:00(Sat,Sun) What to try : Double layer egg pudding (雙皮奶) Worth : ❤❤ If you have a sweet tooth, their Double layer egg pudding would probably receives a thumb up from you. But no, it will not come from me as i dislike sweet stuff. We ordered their double layer egg pudding (cold) and a stewed egg custard (hot). I would boldly say that the taste of the milk was kinda overwhelming although it was smooth and rich.. I think i would be better if we eat the hot bowl but it was too late. ..then, we also tried their hot stewed egg custard but it just taste like a sweeter version of chawamushi along with a mild sweet milk fragrance ( I preferred this!!). I had a friend who loves sweet stuff and her first recommendation to me was this place. Ultimately, this dessert shop depends on individual preferences. Just give a try, you might like it just like my friend :) 4) Food at a Local Market/ McDonaldDo not have doubt in this. A meal in their local market is a must-try since we traveled all the way here to experience their way of life! I'm fortunate enough to taste it without waking up early because mum is an early-bird hehehe. One morning, she brought home steamed Malay Cake, Egg Tarts, Salted bun/ Peanut bun (idk?), some you tiao and porridge. Some of their food wasn't to my liking except for their egg tarts and the bun that idk. Having tried the famous egg tart here, the egg tarts at their local market is way better than the KFC egg tarts we have back at home. That night, we actually decided to have Mcdonald as our supper since it will be our last night in Macau. I tried to make this into something that i do when i travel to a different country. Every McDonald outlet that i tried (Taiwan, Thailand, Beijing) did surprised me! Don't be skeptical about it, their meal specially cater to the locals. Serious. McDonald in Thailand includes lemongrass into their iced lemon tea!! I love that to the max. Oh god. 5) San Hou Lei Bakery Cafe (新好利咖啡饼店)Address: 13-14 Rua do Cunha Opening hours : 007:00-18:00 daily What to try : Bird's Nest Egg Tart and Fresh Milk Tart Worth : ❤❤❤❤❤ Stop scrolling and read this. If not, you won't be able to mark this down on your itinerary. You won't regret it because this is one of the top three Portuguese egg tart outlets in Macau. The another two are Lord Stow's Bakery and Cafe e Nata Margaret's. I didn't try Cafe e Nata Margaret's since many said they are opened by the husband and wife. Assuming that i tried all three outlets, my heart and soul voted for this San Hou Lei Bakery Cafe. Mainly because of their flakey-buttery pastry with their bird's nest and fresh milk filling!! I preferred this as there are lesser cream and more eggs in their special mixture. I don't think i will forget the taste of it unless i tried something that is way better than this, which is impossible. ( that explains why i gave it 5/5) Seriously. Mark down Taipa Village in your itinerary! (I've been here and coloane village too but was way too busy eating that there was no photos available for me to upload in the category area, so sorry) 6) Tai Lei Loi Kei Cafe 大利来记 Address: Taipa Village (roughly 5 mins walk from San Hou Lei) Opening hours : -unsure- What to try : Pork Chop Bun Worth : ❤❤♥ Pork Chop bun is available widely in Macau but no no no, i only wanted to eat this. Not from other stall, just this. I want to know the uniqueness of their bun that makes people share and blog about it. Therefore, i'm determined to try this, no matter what. We were so full after eating San Hou Lei that we just shared one pork chop bun among the three of us. heheeh. Luckily, there wasn't much crowd in the morning. ( Crowd might start from 2pm since their fresh chewy bun is available from 3pm onward) Our bun is kind of dry. We poured some chili sauce onto it. Much better. A bit of disappointment since it is not the type of fresh, juicy pork chop that i thought of. Perhaps, i'm too full to determine if it tastes good. Guess what?! They are opening a franchise in Singapore!!! I'm going to check it out when it opens soon. More updates from Here 7) Pastelaria Fong Kei 晃記餅家Address: 14 Rua do Cunha, Vila de Taipa
Opening hours : 10.00 - 19.30 (daily) What to try : Almond cookies with pork filling Worth : ❤❤❤❤❤ This century years old shop is so famous that it is being featured on CNN Travel. Once we saw that article, we noted it down and decided to make some purchase of gifts here. I have no idea why this attracts more crowd as compared to "Koi Kee" which has an outlet almost every way we go. Maybe tourist feels that Koi Kee is too commercialize. I do feel that way too and the reason why we did not make any purchase in that bakery despite sampling it. Taste of the almond cookies? - I've no idea. Mum tried it and shared with her friends and the feedback that we have received so far was strongly positive. I should have tried it too. Whyyyy didn't i just open my mouth and eat it. see la, wait for their feedback's and now, it was gone..

I believed that many who came here will sent a prayer and enjoy the view which overlook the city as it is really spectacular. We came here for a lookout since we were in the same district. As we strolled up the hill, we noticed lots of bungalows. They must be super duper wealthy! After approximately 15 mins, we arrived at this destination!!!!!! Then, we noticed all the romantic couples shooting for their wedding photos. (at least 6-7 couples were there!!) I'm impressed by their endurance to do it under the scorching sun while embracing it with their lovable smile in their wedding dress. I don't think i could do it. I rather be in a studio hahahah. When there wasn't any couple blocking the main entrance, we went in. As compared to the church that I saw in Beijing, I prefer this. The church is really plain and simple. The visit to Chapel of Our Lady of Penha was splendid. After a great tour inside the church, we were greeted by the grand view of Macau Peninsula. If any of you were interested in travelling for your wedding photos, Macau is definitely a place for you!! The outcome from the simple church and gorgeous architecture (Eg. Ruins of St.s Pauls) will be glorious. Likewise, it is much cheaper than travelling to Europe!! ( I'm writing this down so that i could suggest to my elder sister next time *smirk* )
Mark it down on your memo heheheh! And may God continue to give us his blessing. We came to visit this temple mainly because of the authentic Portuguese food restaurant nearby. I'm not kidding. I'm a food person, so does my sis. Mum loves going to temple. Therefore, this area is suitable for us. Let me brief you on this area that i'm talking about. (sorry, i'm not going to upload about the food here, Food post about A Lorcha/ O Porto Interior Restaurante HERE) A-Ma temple is strategically located in the southern end of the Macau Peninsula. (One of the oldest temples, was constructed in 1488). People here, commemorate on Mazu, the sacred sea goodness to ward off bad luck. Because of that, you could see coachloads of tourists trudging up the stairs or gathering outside. We did explored a bit of this temple and made a sincere wish before heading for our lunch. I could say this is a unique temple with lots of words being craved on the stone. We did see tourists taking photos of some stones..... (while blocking other tourists way hahah!) ... because this temple is worth taking photos of, just like the small windmill!!. They are available for purchasing (if i'm not wrong MOP30) to be hang on. Get it if you are married and want to mantain lovely-dovey relationship for a hundred years! This is for marriage so it's not for me yet. In the future,ya. ♘♛
Dreams do come true. It does. Disney is the happiest place on earth but seeing the replicate copy of these architectures, i am beyond contented because i know i will be there one day. I will. This place is just for me to feel the atmosphere. Wait until i graduate from university, i will visit Greece and Amsterdam for sure! We visited Fisherman's Wharf in the morning in order to take advantage of the nature lighting!! (All the photos here have no filters and editing. ✓ ) Since we were at such a beautiful place, we started taking photos. okay, spamming photos for OOTD etc. If you are here just for a visit, this place is pretty much unenjoyable for you. (that's why there are plenty of bad reviews for this place on trip advisor) Ignite some sparks and take more modelling photos hahaha! All these are like my favorite photos in Macau. I just find it too photogenic or maybe i just want to praise myself that I've good photography skills (*self pat on the back* ) - which explained why i'm rarely inside the photos heheh.
Oh! There are lots of restaurants and convention center here too, of course without missing out the popular casino that one should visit in Macau. Guess it will be more crowded during dinner time as one gets to enjoy the scenic view while dining. We were here for an hour before heading off to the temple! Soul satisfying. ... It's all i wanna do. Every time I eat, i feel brand new. I've literally no idea why this song was in my mind after uploading these photos. Perhaps, i do feel brand new hahahhah. Being at the 14th Macau Food Festival is a joy because we got to feast! yes, feasting various international food as they gathered in one place but then again, the crowd was horrible. (we were here on the second last day). Not only that, i felt super regretful at this place. Firstly, for changing MOP200 instead of MOP100 ( ended up buying drinks back to hotel, eating more fried food), Then ,we spent all my money on food that we forgot about keeping $10 for the games (to be use with the game coupon Lastly, We even missed the entire japan village ( with omg sushi, fresh sashmi, oyishi noodles and other food. how can i missed it). Can't believe i had like three regrets here. I need to be back here next time for this food festival. I must be here again. Heartache. Heartache. Heartache. And the only cure for this was to eat all the yumz food. We started spending our money on this oyster omelette. Do not belittle how thai cooks it. Everyone in my family agreed that this tasted so much better than those that i'd tried. ( which include authentic oyster omelette in Taiwan).
Happiness level increased. We began our food huntinggg!!! Tried their curry fish ball ,grilled octopus, fried chicken, Japanese ice cream and bought myself a large cup of Gongcha. ( too busy eating that we forgot about taking photos)Teehee. The food we chose seem to so unhealthy. At least the serving were huge enough to burst three of our stomach. First day in Macau was a blast! ✌ We started off at Senado Square whereby we were squashed between group of tourist and glittery festive ornaments. Frankly speaking, this place seem like a dream, a scene that would only appear in comedy-romance type of television drama but i'm here. I'm exhaling in and out. These architecture here just makes me go W O W. Thanks to the Portuguese for surrendering only in 1999, there are still many colonial architecture here. It is as though i am in real Portugal. (when can i be there. when can i be in western countries... when can be price of air ticket to long distance country be affordable for me ☹ ). Why am i off topic again.... Back to the topic on heritage walk. After walking around Senado Square, we saw St. Dominic's Church. We just magically, followed the group of tourist and then, everyone started taking pictures, while my mind was like :" i think this is one of the famous church *flipping my whole stack of papers* and walked to the front just to see the correct name. heheh. Bingo. Doing research before going definitely helps a lot when you identify something similar. *Follow signboard and tourist group* We arrived at Ruins of St. Paul's. Survived the congested pathway just to climb up the stairs and be closer to Ruins of St. Paul's since this is Macau's top tourist attraction. Among all the attractions that we visited, I personally adore this too. It just looks so grand. Why must this be destroyed by a fire.. and to the remaining facade, stay strong and don't collapse. ☩ As we walked, as we walked all day, night is approaching. We hurriedly speed up and visit our last visit - Cathedral Square. The cathedral wasn't as impressive as St.Paul's but it was still a beautifully designed church. I have no idea why do i have this thought in my mind right now, after looking through many classy architecture. Maybe one day, i could be an architect. Since i could draw, i love admiring old buildings and occasionally do some DIY. hmmmmm.
if you love architecture, then this post is for you! ♡ Our happy departure photo of Mickey and Minnie started our 8D7N trips to Macau + Hong Kong. We would be in Macau for three days (2.5 days in exact hehheh). ✈✈✈ I was extremely delighted to be in Hong Kong but traveling to Macau means more time is required. As we reached around. 5.30am in the morning (at hong kong) , we could not purchase the ferry tickets ( sadly, it opens at 7am). Just then, we were told by the friendly staff to take the airport bus to Sheung Wan. Then, we took bus A11 to the ferry terminal (teehee, just four stops away). Ticket purchased (HKD$177, weekend price ) and off we go.. ☁☁ ♬Across the water, across the deep blue ocean~. ♫ Under the open sky, oh my, i'd arrived in Macau. ☀☀☀ With a famishing stomach, we head over to a nearby restaurant. The bill was WOW, we ordered these three plates, a bowl of pork congee and two drinks and bang, it cost us MOP206. If i recalled correctly, this was my most expensive meal for the entire trip. Since we had plenty of time, we went to purchase return ferry ticket to Tsim Sha Tsui/ Kowloon island. (HKD $152). Got ourselves the 5 pm tickets. Once we were done, we went to the bus stop and board bus 12. ( thankful for the free wifi at the restaurant, i managed to google out a bus that stop near our hotel) .... and then we met the worst bus driver ever. Ask him if he recognized the Portuguese word on my paper, he ignored us. We paid and check the route ourselves. When you are foreign to a language, all you can do was to match the word. That's how i find out which bus stop to alight. Seriously!! How rude can this bus driver be. He even reprimanded a kid for talking on the bus and thanks to this boiling anger, we overshot by one stop. Thankful to the shop owners' near our hotel who helped us identify the location ( our hotel actually have a big signboard but it is blocked by a tree) Dropped our luggage in our room while the staff was cleaning up the mess from the previous guest and we decided to go somewhere near our hotel. We were left with the option of going to the heritage walk or the Guia Hill. It would be a waste to visit the heritage walk with a sleepy mind, thus, we opted for Guia Hill. (switched the sequence in my itinerary heeh) Horrible queue during the weekends. Took us like 30-40 mins for prolly a minute ride but still it is better than walking. What's more? it's only three bucks heheh. Afterwards, we visited the military tunnels and admire the view from the hill. We did not visit the lighthouse due to.... tiredness. Oh man, so that's how i got my first regret. ☹ Eventually our visit here became a selfie plus photo-taking session. We took OOTD shot, random candid shot and somehow mum photo turned out to have the 70-80's feel. Sister photo turned out as what she wanted, the zen mode. I tried to imitate but failed badly (my body is somehow slanted so i do not want to upload it here haahha) Finished snapping, we went back to the horrendous long queue for our return ride. This time, we queued an hour under the scorching sun. Skin meltingggg....... We board no. 8 cable car to and fro.... Perhaps, lady luck is on my side that day. We got an early check-in, we board the same cable car, On what probabilities will i get back the same cable car if i were here close to 2 hours. I guess, the percentage should be quite insignificant heheh. ( i suck at this). Walked back to our hotel, we decided to have a quick bath and take a couple of hours off to rest before going to the heritage walk and had our dinner at the 14th Macau Food Festival.
